Good morning, my name is Govinda.
Welcome everyone, to The Becoming Community Jam, and welcome to our farm Palette o Green n Red.
We’re really glad you’re here.
I invite you to take a moment to adjust your seating, so you can feel a little more comfortable and relaxed.
You’ve all travelled far, to a farm, with people you may not yet know, to an event that may not be so clear … What are we really doing here? Why are we here? And why now? …
😮💨
I want to start by simply sharing why this gathering exists at all—because it didn’t come from an idea or a business plan. It came from a long period of searching, a few moments of clarity that stayed with me - and a catalyst planted by our friend and facilitator Lakshmi who couldn’t make it to our gathering today due to an injury.
I grew up deeply immersed in science and technology. Engineering made sense to me. Logic, systems, problem-solving at scale - it all felt like a way forward for humanity.
At the same time, I grew up with music. Listening, enjoying, Playing instruments, learning sound, spending hours just exploring - it was playful, creativity without justification. Something that came from my heart that words could never explain.
But over time, as I grew up, and started working in capitalist Silicon Valley - with fast moving, technological progress - I began to feel something missing.
